ABOUT ME
Hi, My name is Clare and I live in Newton Hall, Durham, North East England, with my husband Jonathan and three boys Ryan 22, Adam 19 and Finn 17. I have kept rabbits since I was about six years old. When my last rabbit died in 2003 and I was pregnant with my second son I decided I couldn't spend as much time as I would like with the rabbits so I didn't get any more.
Then as my children were growing up, in December 2008 I decided to buy one rabbit, Charlie a frosty point mini lop buck who was 8 weeks. But one just wasn't enough and on my Birthday in February 2009, my husband bought me two more, Jasmine a siamese sable mini lion lop doe about a year old and her daughter lola a seal point mini lion lop doe 6 weeks old. I then decided I wanted to breed my own and it would be great to breed Charlie and Jasmine. Jasmine had had two litters before so I thought she would be able to teach me! I mated them and waited patiently! On the 30th day jasmine started to pull fur from her tummy and the next day the babies were born, all six of them! I couldn't stop having a peek at the new arrivals and this was the start of my rabbit family.
My rabbits are my pets and are loved very much and are handled every day. They are not breeding machines and are breed 2 or at the most 3 times a year. They come in the house and are cuddled as much as possible and run around in the garden or my outside runs.
This is my hobby and I spend alot of time with them feeding, cleaning them out and cuddling them.
It is very time consuming especially in the cold weather when the water bottles freeze, but I love it!
All money taken goes back into caring for my rabbits - food, hay, straw, treats, toys, medications and vet bills.
They all have excellent temperaments and are very friendly and easy to handle. My children love them and they lie with them licking their faces and jumping over them.
I do primarily breed my rabbits as pets and my main aim is for them to have a good temperament.
All of my bunnies have come from local reputable breeders and some are BRC Rung.
I do offer any help needed after the bunnies have gone to their new homes. I have rabbits come back to me for their holidays and it's lovely to see how they have grown up.
2018 I have just started to breed German lops and Netherland dwarfs.
2020 stopped breeding German lops to concentrate on the smaller breeds.
